Applicants must currently be enrolled at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater campus.
The Frances Lee and Charles Dutreau Scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement in one of the foreign languages taught by this department. These funds are to be used to assist with expenses for language study (of at least six weeks' duration) in a foreign country. This year the Dutreau Scholarship will provide $450 to a student who proposes to study in North/Central America or $600 to a student who proposes to study outside North/Central America.
The Cynthia L. Collins Scholarship will be given to a student with a declared major or minor in Spanish who maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The recipient must be enrolled as a full or part time student pursuing an undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University. The scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student who demonstrates financial need as demonstrated by working a minimum of ten hours per week throughout the two semesters. The recipient must reside in an OSU residence hall during the two semesters that the funds are to be received. Proper documentation to verify this status is required. This award carries a stipend of $500 disbursed through the student's bursar account in two payments of $250 after enrollment is completed but before tuition is due.
The John Sadler Award is given to an OSU student of foreign languages who has demonstrated academic excellence, especially in the field of language study. The award is intended to help defray a student’s educational expenses. The recipients will receive $700.
The William J. Ray Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a meritorious junior or meritorious senior student at Oklahoma State University who is committed to teaching Spanish in the public schools. The successful candidate must show evidence of previous or ongoing coursework in education (ABSED, CIED, etc.). The recipient will receive $300.
The Michael Yeager Award will be given to a student who has completed at least 15 hours of French or the equivalent, and has demonstrated academic excellence in that language. The $500 award is to be used to assist with expenses for language study (of at least six weeks' duration) in a French-speaking country.
The Golconda Foundation offered by the directors of the Golconda Foundation, are to be given to outstanding students in upper-division foreign language classes. Up to twelve awards will be given, each carrying a stipend of $500.

Please furnish one official Oklahoma State University transcript to accompany the application form; it must include fall 2009 course grades. A deadline will be set in November or December, 2009.
